Note: Today Gakken released the kit of the SX-150 analog synth (a perfect match for the new Nintendo DS Korg DS10 analog synth card!).

GAKKEN SX-150 MIDI MOD: RJ, a Japanese hardware hacker, has posted a guide to create a Midi interface for the Gakken SX-150!

The Controller: A touch pen generates CV and Gate. There is also has a tiny extenal input that does F/V conversion (but also responds to amplitude :-).

VCO: Has saw-tooth output

VCF: Sullen-Key type 12dB/Oct filter. Very much like Korg MS-20 filter.

Envelope Generator: AD type.

LFO: Two output waveforms: triangular and rectangular.

Output: Has an amplifier and speaker in it + line output.

Dopo aver visitato il Tokyo Toy Show abbiamo contattato la Gakken per avere maggiori informazioni sulla nuova cinepresa Super 8 in scatola di montaggio presentata in forma di prototipo dalla casa giapponese. Questo kit (che unisce brillantemente modellismo,  giocattoli educativi e l’hobby della cinematografia amatoriale) permette di effettuare delle riprese di 3 minuti. Le altre informazioni che abbiamo ricevuto ci indicano che il  diaframma è regolabile manualmente e il motore della cinepresa utilizza una batteria alcalina LR14 da 1.5V. L’uscita di questo gioiellino è prevista per la primavera del 2009.

Invece, Per gli appassionati di musica elettronica e Synth analogici la Gakkena ha rilasciato oggi il nuovissimo kit per costruire un mini synth analogico: il GAKKEN SX-150 (altra news per i maniaci di musica elettronica è il nuovo videogioco KORG DS10 che trasforma un Nintendo DS in un vero sintetizzatore analogico!).


GAKKEN SUPER 8 CAMERA (English):
After James @ Retrothing spotted the prototype of this camera in a photo we took during the Tokyo Toy Show  (I confess I totally passed over it as I was entranched by the bamboo needle grammophone!) we contacted Gakken to get more details about this little masterpiece. Today we received new photos of the prototype (with added GC as a preview of the final external design) and new details.

This camera is only for a cartridge type 8 mm films.
You can record pictures for 3 minutes with the camera and a cartridge.
It works by a motor using one LR14 1.5V alkaline battery.
It has a diaphragm mechanism on manual.
The camera is supposed to be realeased next spring but the exact release date has not been set.
