Stuart Mahon qualifies 6th in the A at Pendle National

 



 

This weekend was the Pendle round of the 1/8th Rallycross Natioanl series. In attendance were all the well known names and as always you can pick any of the top 25 almost who can make it into the A on their given day. Typical Pendle, the weather was looking varied though to be fair throught the day it was mostly dry with occasional showers. Alpha Plus and Answer-RC A Team Driver Stuart Mahon was in attendance with his Losi 2.0 EU and has been progressing well all year with the car and engine. Stuart started the day with no great expectations and would have been very happy to put it in the B but first round qualifying put it 12th overall.


2nd round he went one step further and went 4th quickest putting him ahead of Martin, Sloppy, Drescher, Crag and Hazlewood to name a few. Third round approached and after a bit of calculation on earlier heats we reckoned 16th overall would scrape a place in the A final (Stu has never made it this far north in the table at Nationals so was getting a little dizzy!) Stu impressed everyone with a excellent 3rd round run to go and put it 6th overall in qualifying. Come the final (which seemed to take an age to come!) Stu started tentaively and had a few unlucky bobbles which relegated him down the field unfortunately never to fully recover but still drove a good race. We all send our conratulations to Stuart on getting the Alpha F850 in the A and showing that it is as competitive as any other motor out there. Stu was running 7.5 Mins stops as most of the field were doing so with only Crompton and Bloomers going for 10 mins with only one of them proving succesful.
